(2S,3S)-2-(N,N-dibenzylamino)butane-1,3-diol refined using a multipolar atom model.

2008

The crystal structure of the title compound, C18H23NO2, was determined using the experimental library multipolar atom model. The refinement showed a significant improvement of crystallographic statistical indices when compared with a conventional spherical neutral atom refinement.

Beyond psychology: prevalence of p value and confidence interval misinterpretation across different fields

2020

P values and confidence intervals (CIs) are the most widely used statistical indices in scientific literature. Several surveys have revealed that these two indices are generally misunderstood. However, existing surveys on this subject fall under psychology and biomedical research, and data from other disciplines are rare. Moreover, the confidence of researchers when constructing judgments remains unclear. To fill this research gap, we surveyed 1,479 researchers and students from different fields in China. Results reveal that for significant (i.e., p < .05, CI does not include zero) and non-significant (i.e., p > .05, CI includes zero) conditions, most respondents, regardless of acade…

4-Benzoyl-3,4-dihydro-2 H -1,4-benzoxazine-2-carbonitrile: refinement using a multipolar atom model

2009

The structural model for the title compound, C(16)H(12)N(2)O(2), was refined using a multipolar atom model transferred from an experimental electron-density database. The refinement showed some improvements of crystallographic statistical indices when compared with a conventional spherical neutral-atom refinement. The title compound adopts a half-chair conformation. The amide N atom lies almost in the plane defined by the three neighbouring C atoms. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked by weak intermolecular C-H...O and C-H...pi hydrogen bonds.

Measurement and analysis of broadband UVB solar radiation in Spain.

2012

Measurements of broadband UVB irradiance (290-315 nm) at 14 locations in Spain for the period 2000-2009 have been used to generate instantaneous, hourly and daily values of irradiance (W m(-2)) and radiant exposure (kJ m(-2)). These measurements, and its statistical indices, have been analyzed. For the UVB irradiance, the values corresponding to July (maximum) and December (minimum) have been analyzed as representative of the year during the whole period for all locations. For the UVB radiant exposure, the temporal evolution of daily values has been evaluated for all locations to estimate an average yearly behavior. The accumulated radiant exposure for an average year has also been studied …

Discriminating between Posidonia oceanica meadows and sand substratum using multibeam sonar

2010

Abstract Di Maida, G., Tomasello, A., Luzzu, F., Scannavino, A., Pirrotta, M., Orestano, C., and Calvo, S. 2011. Discriminating between Posidonia oceanica meadows and sand substratum using multibeam sonar. – ICES Journal of Marine Science, 68: 12–19. High-resolution, multibeam sonar (MBS) (455 kHz) was used to identify two typologies of seabed 8 m deep: Posidonia oceanica meadow and sandy substratum. The results showed that the heterogeneity of the architecture of the P. oceanica canopy and the relatively simple morphology of a sandy substratum can be detected easily by statistical indices such as standard deviation or range-of-beam depth. Based on these indices, an automated classification…
